A missing man, who was spotted in Hatfield, has sadly been found dead.

Leocardo Loney, from Northwest London, was found in a hedgerow on Saturday, October 14, in Breakspear Road North, Harefield.

The dementia sufferer, who went missing on August 13, was spotted wearing a suit at a bus stop near Asda in Hatfield on Saturday, September 9, at around 3pm.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “It is thought that the body may have been there for several weeks.

“The body was subsequently identified as 83-year-old Leocardo Loney who had been reported missing from his care home in Wembley.

“The death is being treated as unexplained.

“A special post-mortem took place at Fulham Mortuary on Wednesday, October 18, and did not ascertain a cause of death.

“An inquest will be arranged in due course.

“Officers from Hillingdon Borough are investigating and enquiries continue.

“If anyone saw Mr Loney at any point while he was missing, please Hillingdon Police.”

Mr Loney’s daughter Marie Loney told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “On behalf of my family and I, I would like to thank you so much for all your support and to your readers for sharing the original appeal.

“It was a comfort to know that we were not alone in the search for my father, thank you for all your efforts.”
