A worker at a Welwyn Garden City shop was threatened with a gun in a raid last night, police have revealed.

Three men burst into the One Stop Shop in Peartree Lane at around 8.40pm.

It is thought the gang was armed with a hand gun, and a worker was threatened and told to hand over money.

The crooks escaped with cigarettes in a grey crate.

No one was hurt.

Detective Sergeant Mark Wallis, from the Local Crime Unit at Hatfield Police Station, said: “We are conducting a thorough investigation into what happened and are working to identify the offenders.

“I am keen to speak to anyone who was in the area last night and saw these men prior to the robbery, or running from the scene carrying a large grey crate.”

Anyone with information should contact the Herts Police non-emergency number 101, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
