Police are appealing after a fatal crash in Hertfordshire

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a fatal crash on the A1.

The collision occurred on the northbound carriageway of the A1 Barnet bypass, near Borehamwood, shortly before 10pm yesterday.

A black Toyota Rav 4, left the carriageway and came to rest in a treeline next to it.

The driver, a man aged in his 40s, sustained serious injuries and died at the scene.

PC James Thorne, of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Forensic Collision Investigation Unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this very difficult time.

“We are still working to establish the circumstances around the collision and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or events leading up to it, to please contact us.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Thorne via the non-emergency number 101, quoting ISR 779 of March 15.
