A Welwyn Garden City woman was taken to hospital in the early hours of Saturday morning, following calls to ambulance and police.

The ambulance service called police to an address in Hitherway at 1.53am due to concern for the woman’s welfare.

The woman, who is in her 20s, was taken to hospital where she remains in a critical but stable condition.

Eyewitnesses have told the Welwyn Hatfield Times that a cordon was in place.

In an arrest that police have said is “completely unrelated” to the ambulance visit, a 27-year-old man from Welwyn Garden City was arrested at the same address on Sunday, June 24, on suspicion of affray and of breaching a Domestic Violence Protection Order (DVPO).

He has been released with no further action regarding the affray, and has been issued a fine for the breach of DVPO.
