Welwyn Garden City school staff and pupils paid their respects to the fallen with guests of honour by their sides.

On November 11, at 11am pupils and staff from Monk’s Walk School held a wreath laying ceremony in commemoration of the men and women of the armed forces who gave their lives for their country.

Three members of the Royal British Legion joined the ceremony as guests of honour and Monk’s Walk pupil, Nick Frangoudi, played the last post on his bugle.

Other pupils read the exhortation and the dedication and laid the wreath on behalf of the school.

Noel Kelly, deputy headteacher, said: “This was a moving and poignant occasion. We feel it is so important that the school pays its respects to the fallen and that students recognise the sacrifices they made.”
