PLAYDAY – the national day for play – takes place today (Wednesday) and there will be plenty of fun at Stanborough Park, Welwyn Garden City, for youngsters to join in with.

There will be lots of activities between 10am and 4pm – and all for free, so just turn up.

They include games, Brazilian Soccer workshops, go-karts, dance sessions, a bouncy castle slide and arts and crafts.

Local Children’s Centres will be running lots of fun activities around the Change4Life programme, with games and workshops based on healthy eating and healthy lifestyles.

Special Change4Life packs can also be picked up which include healthy recipes and a summer adventure map for children.

Welwyn Hatfield Council is working with several partners including Mill Green Museum, Finesse Leisure and local Children’s Centres to put on a day to remember for all the family, from toddlers to teenagers and parents.

Cllr Irene Dean, lead member for young people, said: “It’s great to see this event back at Stanborough Park.

“Last year saw huge numbers turn out and it was lots of fun for everyone involved.

“This year promises to be the biggest Playday yet with activities divided into zones, including leisure, music and sport. I’d urge everyone to come along and see for themselves – and why not bring a picnic!”
