Plans for new student accommodation in Hatfield were rejected last night.
Proposals for the The Comet Hotel were decided at Welwyn Hatfield Council’s Development Management Committee.
Fusion Hatfield Hotels applied to extend and refurbish the Grade II listed hotel following the addition of ‘poor quality additions’.
The second part of the proposal was for the construction of student accommodation, landscaping and associated works.
Councillors gave the go ahead for the hotel extension and refurbishment.
However, they rejected the proposal for student accommodation, totalling 361 bedrooms in three, four and five storey blocks and three flat-roofed linked blocks.
