Garden City firms can collect a prospectus tomorrow outlining plans for a £1.5million business kitty should local businesses vote to become a Business Improvement District (BID).

It will be available tomorrow at The Place to Eat in John Lewis.

If approved, the money would be raised through an additional levy on town centre businesses, and would be invested in projects to re-energise the area for businesses, employees, shoppers and visitors.

The borough council, which has already pledged support to the scheme, agreed to hold the BID ballot between September 29 and October 27.

Chris Hooper, head of John Lewis in WGC and chairman of the BID Development Board, said: “I am confident that a BID will help us achieve our ambitions, bringing local businesses together to work collectively to improve our town centre.”
