Litterers and louts could be hit by a new £100 fine, if new borough council enforcement powers are approved.
Welwyn Hatfield Council’s Cabinet will discuss the new Community Protection Notice (CPN) on Tuesday, which will see recipients’ pockets hit if they do not improve their behaviour.
The CPN powers come into existence on October 20, with officers able to target those who commit pollution, “envirocrime” and anti-social behaviour offences.
Council documents state officers would use the notices when they are: “Satisfied on reasonable grounds that the conduct of an individual or body is having a detrimental effect of a persistent or continuing nature on the quality of life of those in the locality and the conduct is unreasonable.”
The power has been bestowed on Campus East by The Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Police Act 2014.
