A NEW dynamic club has arrived, boasting to offer unique qualities in Potters Bar.

Power Pilates has rolled in to town and its new facility in Barnet Road was unveiled by Hertsmere mayor Peter Knell.

The new centre is a joint venture between businessmen and fitness fanatics Chris Watson and Christopher Richardson, and bases itself on a different take on the increasingly popular exercise form of Pilates.

Chris told the Potters Bar Edition: “We like to think we offer a dynamic form of Pilates which doesn’t use mats but is reformer-based using special equipment designed for Pilates.

“Comapred to the normal style of Pilates, ours offers more variety of exercises and it’s very intense.

“When doing normal Pilates you work against your body weight and gravity and there is only so far you can go, so people’s development will plateau.

“We can offer a whole load of new exercises and because of the machinery, people can work themselves harder.”

Since Cllr Knell opened the centre on September 3, Chris has been pleased with the response Potters Bar has given to the club.

He said: “It has gone a little better than we had hoped.

“Our main clientele at the moment is mums, now that the schools have gone back, but we would encourage husbands to come along too.

“This type of Pilates has been popular in London where I worked for a company and there are not many clubs like this outside of London.”

Chris added: “Our main goal is to take the business across England.”
