Six fire crews are trying to put out at least 200-tonnes of hay currently on fire in Potters Bar.

The fire services were called at around 2.20am to reports of a stack of hay bales, along Baker Street, estimated to be 600-tonnes, on fire.

At least a third was on fire when crews arrived.

The farmer and fire crews used a tractor and trailer to move bales to safety, but the decision has now been taken to let the remaining hay burn down.

Six crews from Garston, Potters Bar, Welwyn Garden City, Borehamwood and two from St Albans, are currently on the scene.

The incident is still ongoing.

Buses have been diverted and traffic is moving slowly on the M25 between junctions 22 and 25 clockwise.

Baker Street has been closed between Dancers Hill Road and Sawyers Road.
