Tributes are flooding in for a teenage boy who died suddenly.

Friends of Mathew Blease, who was a pupil at Sir Frederic Osborn School have paid their respects by leaving flowers and messages on the school gates.

Headteacher Sue Lewis, at the WGC school, said: "Mathew was a lovely, happy and thoughtful boy; he was very popular with his classmates and year group. Mathew was fully involved in the life of the school, for example he played sport - football and badminton among others, he played the drums, wrote for the school paper, took part in Young Enterprise and loved drama – especially the technical side.

"Mathew died suddenly last week. He will be greatly missed by us all. We have told all the students who are devastated by the news but are being fully supported by staff.

"All the staff, students and parents have joined together to support his family at this very sad time. We will be holding special assemblies and plan to hold a celebration of Mathew’s life next half term. A collection will be made in school to provide a bench to honour Mathew’s memory."
