A care consultant for Welwyn Garden City-based Isabel Hospice is celebrating her birthday by trekking 25 miles over three days.

Dr Pia Amsler, a palliative care consultant at the hospice, will tackle the Jurassic Coast in Dorset along with other intrepid fundraisers.

From the renowned natural stone archway of Durdle Door to the beautiful Lulworth Cove, Pia and the other walkers will continually climb and descend the steep hills of the world heritage site between June 8 and June 10.

Pia said: “I will be 50 years old this year – a milestone that I find surprisingly difficult to deal with.

“But many of my patients don’t even get to this age and I am very grateful that I can indeed celebrate my birthday with friends and family.

“I ask for donations to Isabel Hospice instead of a present so that many more patients and their family can benefit from the care and support they deserve.”
