A PHOTOGRAPH of a 69-year-old man whose decomposed body was found in Brookmans Park has been released.

Daniel Spires, known as Danny, was found on Saturday in a wooded area near Bradmore Lane at around 1.45pm by a member of the public.

Detectives believe he may have died a number of months ago and an initial post mortem has proved inconclusive.

Officers are trying to piece together his last movements to try to establish what happened to him.

Detective chief inspector Mark Ross is from the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire major crime unit and his team are now investigating.

He said: “We’re releasing a photo of Danny in the hopes it will help jog someone’s memory about where they might have seen him last.

“It’s possible they know him by sight rather than by name as he is a long-established Hertfordshire resident.

“It may also help someone remember some information about him which could be vital to our investigation.

“It’s possible Danny may have died a number of months ago so it may be that people have not seen him for some months now.

“If you are one of these people and you have not already spoken to police, I would strongly encourage you to get in touch.”

Call police on the non-emergency number 101 with information.
