Telecommunications giant EE has failed to rule out staff or functions leaving Hatfield.
Sources at the firm, which is based at Hatfield Business Park, in Mosquito Way, told the Welwyn Hatfield Times there were plans to move the operation to a site in London.
A spokesman for the company said it would be “incorrect” to suggest EE was leaving Hatfield.
But, pressed further, the spokesman was asked whether any staff or functions were set to leave the town.
In response, he said: “I can’t comment on that I’m afraid.”
The firm released a statement which read: “As you would expect with any large business operating nationally across several sites, we regularly review our estate to ensure we are working as effectively and efficiently as possible.”
Asked to allay the fears of workers by ruling out any relocation of staff or functions, the spokesman said: “I can’t offer any further comment on what I’ve told you I’m afraid.”
