Cavalier Toffee and Smudge the cat have grown up together since they were very young and have formed an incredible bond.

Their owner Lewis said: “Smudge loves her canine companion Toffee very much, she especially likes cuddling up to him on the settee.

“We had Toffee first, so Smudge has always been around him. I think she actually thinks she’s a dog.

“She’ll follow Toffee when we go for walks which can be pretty embarrassing.”

Lewis added that the mischievous pair even plot together to steal his food.

Lewis said: “Smudge jumps on the table and knocks food onto the floor so they can eat it together.

“They’ve got a real friendship.

“The saying ‘fighting like cats and dogs’ does not apply here. They only ever play fight and never aggressively.”
