IT was a case of so near but yet so far for the WHT's newsdesk at the Potters Bar Rotary Club's six-a-side football tournament.

Our lads battled all the way to the final in yesterday's (Sunday) competition, held at the Furzefield Centre.

After a tense goalless draw, they succumbed in a penalty shootout, losing 3-0 to St Albans-based side Twin Systems.

Six teams took part in the annual tournament - the others being Dame Alice Owen's, Albion Electrical, Sainsbury's, and The Old Boys.

Proceeds from the day will go to a number of Rotary-supported charities.
