Generous cyclists young and old raised money for a Welwyn Hatfield-based charity over the weekend.

The Mixed Group’s supporters took to two wheels and completed a 10-mile route from Welwyn Garden City to Hertford and back, raising £1,119 in the process.

Among the riders were 12 adults and four children, the youngest being just 6, and all were treated to well-deserved burgers, hot dogs and drinks after conquering the mini marathon.

The charity provides Christmas Day meals and annual Summer Cream Tea for lonely and elderly residents in Welwyn Hatfield, and founder Sean Cox lauded the cyclist’s “brilliant” efforts.

He said: “It was a great event that raised a lot of money. Everyone did brilliantly.

“I would like to thank all those involved for their generosity, and hopefully we will see them again next year.”
