A PCSO was hit by a car, which then drove off.

PCSO Mark Crane was patrolling on Bridge Road, WGC, yesterday morning when he was in collision with a black Rover 241 series just outside the John Lewis store.

The 35-year-old was taken to the QE2 Hospital where he was treated for leg injuries.

Police are now appealing for information and witnesses to the accident, at 11.30am.

Pc Dave Warren said: "This incident could have resulted in a serious injury to the PCSO, but thankfully he only suffered minor injuries.

"I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time, knows anything about the incident or the location of the vehicle to please come forward and help us with our inquiries."
