Motorists have been taking a chance by driving through flooded areas of Welwyn Garden City.

The underpass by the Howard Centre has been flooded and the shopping centre itself has buckets to catch water leaking through the roof.

The Met office has given the following forecast for today: “A wet morning with rain, occasionally very heavy, and possibly thundery.

“These will clear eastwards during the afternoon with sunny spells developing.

“Although some rain could persist in the east. Feeling fresher and much cooler than recently. Maximum Temperature 19 °C.”

It is likely to rain tonight, but clear through the night.

There should also be less humidity.

Saturday’s forecast is a cloudy start with more rain and a maximum temperature of 19 °C.

Sunday should have sunny spells and isolated showers.
