EVERY son or daughter must have suffered the "you use this place like a hotel" rant at some point in their formative years.

But according to the latest figures, youngsters are now booking in for Alan Partridge-esque stints at their family home.

Hatfield charity Parentline Plus is calling for more support for parents of young adults who are staying at home for longer and on occasions causing more problems.

A report published by the charity entitled, "Will they ever fly the Nest?" asks for more support to help parents to assert their authority on often violent or drug-using youngsters.

The charity that runs a free 24-hour hotline for concerned parents has revealed people are most concerned about violence and unemployment.

Parents who feel they need to talk can call the hotline on 0808 800 2222.
