THE Paralympic Torch visited Welwyn Garden City, ahead of the 2012 Games’ opening ceremony being held in the London Olympic Park tonight (Wednesday).

Shoppers and staff at Sainsbury’s in WGC got the chance to see the Torch up close earlier this month when it visited the store in Church Road.

HR manager Katy Woodward said: “Sainsbury’s are very proud to be the official sponsor for the 2012 Paralympic Games.

“It was fantastic to have the Paralympic Torch visit Sainsbury’s WGC and was an opportunity ‘like no other’ for our colleagues and customers to hold the Torch and be part of the 2012 celebrations.”

Sainsbury’s is one of the sponsors of the Paralympics, with football icon David Beckham appearing in the supermarket’s adverts for the Games.
