Paralympic Torch returns to Welwyn Garden City Sainsbury’s store
SUFFERING withdrawal symptoms following the end of the Olympics and Paralympics? Missing the excitement of the London 2012 Games?
Well beat the post-Paralympic blues in Welwyn Garden City this weekend.
Shoppers and staff can enjoy one final Paralympic experience at Sainsbury’s on Saturday afternoon.
Pop down to the Church Road store to get your hands on the Paralympic Torch.
It will be visting the supermarket between 3.30pm and 5.30pm and customers will have the chance to have their photo taken with the iconic Torch.
Sainsbury’s was one of the sponsors of the 2012 Paralympics.
* Shoppers at Sainsbury’s this weekend will also be able to donate to the Million Meal Appeal.
The supermarket chain has been working with FareShare, a national charity dedicated to tackling the issues of food poverty and waste, for more than 18 years.
To celebrate the partnership, Sainsbury’s is holding its second annual Million Meal Appeal on Saturday and Sunday in WGC.
A spokeswoman said: “We are encouraging our customers to buy an extra item and donate it to FareShare, for example tinned, canned foods, pasta, cereal, biscuits etc.”
The Million Meal Appeal was held in November last year, and with Sainsbury’s matching customers donations, a total of 1.2 million meals were donated to FareShare in just one day.
