Hefty fine for man with overloaded van in Hatfield

A driver has been fined after he overloaded his van by more than 40% in Hatfield.

Terance Johnson, 47, was caught driving his overloaded Iveco Daily in Comet Way, Hatfield, at 10am on May 18.

He had overloaded the van by 1,440kg - an overload of 41.1%.

Johnson didn’t appear at Stevenage Magistrates’ Court for the hearing on November 28.

The case was proved in his absence.

Johnson, of Diamond Road, Ruislip, was fined £601.

He was ordered to pay victim services £60 and costs of £85.

In total, he must pay £746.
