Over 30,000 more Welwyn Hatfield employees are now signed up to a workplace pension scheme, latest figures have revealed.
The Pensions Regulator has published statistics showing how many employers are compliant with automatic enrolment, which since 2012 has led to around 9.3million more people nationwide saving into a pension.
According to the regulator 30,000 people in the borough are now part of the scheme, and Welwyn Hatfield MP Grant Shapps said having a workplace pension is now “the new norm”.
TPR’s director of automatic enrolment, Darren Ryder, said: “I am delighted we have reached this important landmark, which shows how far we have come since the start of automatic enrolment.
“By successfully meeting their responsibilities, employers have helped reverse the downward trend in workplace saving so that putting earnings into a pension has now become the norm.”
