A 13-YEAR-OLD girl ended up giving a man oral sex after chatting to him online.
The teenager, who cannot be identified, was picked up by Ashley Wood in his car, St Albans Crown Court heard.
Prosecutor David Chrimes said Wood, then aged 20, drove to a secluded place where sexual activity took place.
The girl gave him oral sex and he sexually touched her.
Wood, now 21, was later confronted by a relative of the girl and admitted what happened. The police were called.
Wood, of Lawn Avenue, Kimpton, pleaded guilty to two counts of having sexual activity with a child on January 20 this year.
He was of previous good character.
William Manley, defending, said the girl had said she was 17 when she was on the social networking website MySpace.
But Mr Manley added: "There are no excuses and no justification. Mr Wood recognises what he had done was wrong and criminal.
"It was the heat of the moment and it went too far. He made a very bad error of judgement. It was a one-off."
Sentencing on Wednesday, Judge Stephen Warner told him: "These are serious offences. She was young and vulnerable.
"You were 20 you should have known better."
He passed a three-year community order saying that if Wood re-offended he could expect a sentence greater than 12 months in jail.
Wood will be placed under the supervision of a probation officer for the three years.
The officer will decide on sex offender programmes for him to attend.
He was placed on the sex offenders' register for five years and was banned from accessing MySpace or having contact with young females, also for five years. He was barred from ever working with children.
