Potters Bar’s MP Oliver Dowden has been made a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) in recognition of his record of public service.

The gong for Mr Dowden, MP for Hertsmere since May 7, was announced in the Dissolution Honours List today.

He told the Potters Bar Edition: “I am extremely honoured and humbled to receive this award.

“I am privileged to have had the opportunity to serve the Prime Minister, and now to serve the residents of Hertsmere as a Member of Parliament.”

Before he was selected by the Conservative Party to fight the Hertsmere seat, Mr Dowden served as David Cameron’s deputy chief of staff from 2012.

He was previously a political advisor to Mr Cameron, and worked in various Conservative Party roles.
