IMAGINE lying beneath the stars as you put your head to rest every night, watching the moon, the Milky Way and the meteor showers as you peacefully drift away into the land of nod.

Well wake up to this! You now can.

And Bill Irvine is the man who can make your 'dream' ceiling become a reality.

Using specialist paints and equipment, as well as some closely guarded secrets, the 40-year-old from Wellcroft Close, WGC, can transform almost any room, so that you can lay back to see the twinkling of the night sky above you.

Mr Irvine, who is currently running Cosmic Ceilings part-time, along with his job in computers, told the WHT he started the business after reading a 'how to' article.

"When I read the article, I decided to have a go myself on my daughter's bedroom and the results were fantastic. I then experimented around the house and after it was successful, I started to do it for friends and it expanded from there, really."

To achieve the subtle, yet stunning 3D effects, the father-of-three said he has to completely black out the room.

"The paint is invisible by day and would be impossible to apply in the light.

"If you want just a sky of stars, it is £49 and that will take about an hour, whereas a full Milky Way, with gas clouds and shooting stars etc, is £99 and will take about two hours.

"One of the neat things about having the full Milky Way is that I use different colours and they all last different amounts of time each night, so you get the effect of an ever-changing night sky.

"The effect lasts for years and doesn't need any electrical power; it recharges in daylight. To remove, it takes just a few layers of emulsion paint.

"The best part of the job for me is seeing a complete ceiling, it's quite something."

Mr Irvine, who has created ceilings in bathrooms, schools, nurseries, hospitals, hotels and nightclubs, works mainly evenings and weekends. For information, call Bill on 07759 007210 or 01707 881876.
