A NO-SHOW councillor has stepped down from his role as chairman of the environment committee.
Welwyn Hatfield Council leader John Dean received the resignation from controversial councillor Paul Smith, after the WHT revealed he failed to attend any meetings since November.
The letter read: "I have thoroughly enjoyed being chairman of this committee and I believe we have achieved a lot in the last year.
"I hope that this resignation will allow the council and its opposition parties to concentrate on things of more substance, by which I mean the policies that can drive Welwyn Hatfield forward at a difficult time."

The 22-year-old has not stood down from his role as councillor representing Hatfield East.
