JUST four months after opening a charity shop in Welwyn Garden City has been forced to close due to poor footfall.

The YMCA, on Fretherne Road, shut last Saturday after first welcoming customers through the doors in January.

Charity bosses blame the “poor location” and have pledged to return to the town in a bigger unit.

Diane Landau, YMCA central Herts retail development manager, told the WHT: “It is a poor location, it is nothing to do with anything else, people were not coming where we were.

“Obviously we have the shop in the Howard Centre which does very well.

“It is a bit disappointing but we plan to be back.”
