A NEW type of train has just arrived at Hatfield.
However, unlike others recently reported in the WHT, this engine will not park at the very end of the platform - forcing passengers onto the track, nor will it spray faeces onto those on the station!
In fact it's not even based at the station in Great North Road and is immobile.
But the train design mural in Hatfield Town Centre, completed by youngsters from Breaks Manor and Welwyn Hatfield Youth Council during the Easter school holidays, does look "brilliant", according to borough councillor Irene Dean.
The youth champion said: "We hear so many bad reports for young people, to think they've given up their own time for no reason but to help improve Hatfield is brilliant."
The image, a scene in Edinburgh, was the brainwave of a teenager who attends the Breaks Manor youth centre.
Garry Currell, 17, created the mural, which has an anti-vandal paint finish, due to the connection of graffiti and
Mark Tanti, a community artist and youth worker, who helped run the project, said: "Originally the train was to have graffiti on it, but we did not want to give off the wrong impression, so we went with a graffiti design round the corner a little bit out of view.
