A NEW stamp featuring Queen Elizabeth I is released today (Tuesday).
It shows a portrait of the famous 'Virgin Queen', who spent most of her childhood at Hatfield House. The young Elizabeth was in residence at the stately home when she first learned of her accession to the throne in 1558.
Elizabeth, the last of the Tudors, reigned until 1603.
Elizabeth I features on the new 81p stamp, which is for sending letters up to 40g in weight to Europe by airmail.
