A small business centre to boost business in the borough has been approved for Hatfield by the council’s cabinet.

The new centre, which will occupy a two storey business unit in Beaconsfield Road, will be based on the model of the Weltech Business Centre in WGC and aims to attract business start-ups and growing businesses.

The cabinet agreed to buy office space to build the centre, and the full council agreed to add £8 million to the existing year capital programme to fund the purchase. The unit will be roughly the same size as the Weltech site, and will be close to Hatfield train station and the town centre, with an on-site car park.

Cllr Duncan Bell, executive member for resources, said: “We’re very keen to support local businesses and encourage investment in the borough, and to do this effectively we need to offer our community the space and scope to start and grow their organisation.”
