A DOZEN jobs look set to be created in WGC in the next two to three years after a lawn care company announced plans to expand.

GreenThumb is recruiting 1,000 new employees nationwide, amid projections its business will grow by 25 per cent over the next 12 months.

The firm already has a branch in the Bridgegate Centre in Martinfield and a spokesman said: "We currently treat just short of 4,000 customers' lawns four times a year from the WGC branch.

"We do that with 13 staff."

He added: "The plan is that the personnel will probably double in the next two or three years."

Marketing manager David Collison said growth had accelerated "dramatically" during the economic downturn.

"People are deciding to improve their properties rather than move," he said.

"If they're not going away so much in the slump they want to enjoy their gardens."

Founded 25 years ago, GreenThumb is based in St Asaph, Denbighshire and operates 186 UK franchises.
