AFTER months of uncertainty, the highly successful Space community centre has found a new home in WGC.

Central Herts YMCA has finally secured a new unit in WGC town centre with which to run Space, the so called “living room on the high street”, after the old facility in Church Road was forced to close due to the Sainsbury’s redevelopment.

But after spending part of the summer working out in the community, the YMCA has secured the empty glass-fronted unit on the corner of Church Road and Wigmores South, and Space WGC will reopen there next Monday, September 13.

Provisionally, the facility will be open for the next two months while Central Herts YMCA works out a deal for a new permanent residence in the town.

Mark Allen, centre manager for Space WGC, said: “We are in the final stages of securing a permanent home for Space to operate from, but are really pleased that for the next two months we will have a great temporary venue in the heart of the town.”
