CYCLISTS celebrated the opening of a new cycle path in WGC and Hatfield.
The family riders pedalled the three-mile route from Wrestlers Bridge, in Hatfield, to Broadwater Road, WGC, last Saturday.
The Broadwater Road cycle path provides a link for cyclists to the railway station and between the existing cycle networks on Bessemer Road and Chequers, which in turn links to routes across the county.
County councillor Stuart Pile, executive member for highways and transport, said: “We would like to thank Welwyn Hatfield’s Cycling Forum for their input into this scheme and for organising the bike ride.
“This new section of cycle path means that it’s even safer to travel around and across WGC by bike and we hope residents will be encouraged to get on their bikes, whether for pleasure or commuting.”
