RESIDENTS living in flats are about to have recycling made easier for them.

New communal bins are on their way to Ashwood Road Estate and Stagg Ridge, in Potters Bar, that will allow residents to recycle a wider variety of waste.

Previously residents could recycle plastic bottles and cans in the bins, but now they can also put in glass bottles and jars, cartons and a wider range of plastic such as yoghurt pots, margarine tubs, microwave meal trays and carrier bags.

Cllr Jean Heywood, Hertsmere Borough Council’s environment portfolio holder, said: “The arrival of the new communal bins is good news for those who live in the flats, as well as being great news for the environment. We are trying to make recycling as easy as possible for as many people as possible so we hope this helps.”
