WORK on a new entertainment complex for the University of Hertfordshire is due to begin.

The £28m project will see a massive nightclub for 2,000 students called the Forum which will also host live concerts.

A large restaurant, shop and coffee bar, nursery and three-storey 400-space car park will also be built at the College Lane campus in Hatfield.

Contractor Willmott Dixon will also be revamping some older buildings and upgrading the transport services including relocating the bus terminal.

The project is due for completion in June 2009 and will be open to the university's 24,000 students and the public.

Mike Hart, from Willmott Dixon said: "The Forum is going to be a tremendous addition to the facilities available for students at the university and we are very proud to have been selected to deliver it.
