NETWORK Rail is to be sentenced today (Thursday) at St Albans Crown Court, over health and safety breaches that led to the Potters Bar rail crash.

The firm pleaded guilty in March to breaching the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

The conviction follows the conclusion of the inquest and the Office of Rail Regulation’s (ORR) investigation into the derailment on May 10, 2002, in which seven people were killed.
