Hatfield NatWest bank to close down

NatWest has announced today that it will be closing 197 branches, including Hatfield’s.
NatWest, in Town Centre, is set to close its doors for good next year on Tuesday, June 5.
Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and NatWest announced that 259 branches will be shut down - 197 Natwest and 62 RBS branches.
The decision, that will cost 680 jobs, came following a review of its network.
NatWest published on their website: “More and more people are choosing to do their banking online, with our Mobile Banking app.
“It’s more convenient to do it at a time and place that suits you, rather than come into branch.
“This means some branches are being used a lot less than they used to be.”
Elizabeth, 68, and André Haulard, of Hatfield, who have been banking with NatWest for nine years are deeply saddened by the news.
Mr Haulard told the Welwyn Hatfield Times: “We will most likely change banks now because although we can bank online we prefer to do it in person because we fear being hacked and our money being taken.
“We’ve known the staff in there for nearly a decade and they’re so lovely.
“It’s really sad news.”
