A MAN who murdered his former girlfriend has been given a life sentence this morning (Monday) and will serve a minimum of 19 years in prison.

The sentence was handed to Jack Wall, 22, by judge Aiden Marron at Blackfriars Crown Court, London.

It followed jurors finding Wall guilty on Friday of murdering 19-year-old Amelia Arnold at their flat in Hadrian’s Walk, Stevenage, last November.

After burying the former Welwyn Garden City schoolgirl’s body in a Hatfield woodland, Wall handed himself in to police.

He later admitted killing the 19-year-old, who was the mother of his young daughter, and pleaded guilty to obstructing a coroner, but denied murder.

Jurors were however unanimous in their decision to convict Wall of murder.

He beat the teenager repeatedly over the head with a dumbbell bar in the same room as their daughter.

More to follow.
