A multi-million pound plan to demolish a Hatfield school and replace it with a new building has been backed in a report ahead of a crunch meeting.
Next Thursday a cross-party panel will meet to rule on the plans at Bishop’s Hatfield Girls’ School.
If given the go-ahead, the new building, on the northern part of the existing school’s Woods Avenue site, would accommodate 900 pupils and 98 staff members.
The school says the move is necessary because the current building is not up to scratch.
A report prepared ahead of the development management committee meeting said: “Due to the age of the school, the applicant has outlined that the existing school is approaching the end of its serviceable life and suffers from, amongst other things, structural frame degredation, poor thermal social facilities.”
