THE expenses claims of Hertsmere MP James Clappison have been deemed appropriate by an independent auditor.
Mr Clappison received the news on Monday in a letter from Sir Thomas Legg, the former civil servant who has been appointed to review MPs affairs in the wake of this summer's expenses scandal.
In his letter, Sir Thomas informs the shadow work and pensions minister that he does NOT have to pay back any of the expenses he has claimed.
He also makes it clear that Mr Clappison does not need to provide any further details about his claims.

A number of MPs, including Prime Minister Gordon Brown, have already been told by Sir Thomas that they must repay some of the cash they have claimed from the public purse.
