Welwyn Hatfield MP Grant Shapps is set to visit every GP surgery in the borough as part of his Make Healthcare Local campaign.

The scheme was launched earlier this year as part of a drive to reintroduce services at the New QEII Hospital that have been relocated to Stevenage’s Lister Hospital.

Mr Shapps will speak to GPs and surgery staff to gather opinion on the state of local healthcare as well as their suggestions for improvement.

He said: “At a time when we have a growing and ageing population and health services moving out of the local area to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage, GP surgeries here are going to come under more pressure than ever.

“Therefore, I’m keen to meet up with every surgery in due course to gather GPs views on local healthcare and what can be done to improve it.”
