A MOTORIST was taken ill at the wheel of his vehicle, causing traffic congestion during rush hour today (Wednesday).
Police and an ambulance rushed to J6 of the A1(M) northbound at around 5.15pm when a man dialled 999 and complained of feeling unwell.
A police spokeswoman said the man's car - a blue Renault Megane - had initially come to a halt in the middle lane of the motorway causing congestion, but confirmed it has now been moved to the hard shoulder.
"He is (currently) being given medication," she said.
