A motorcyclist has been left with serious injuries after a motorway crash near Welwyn.

The biker was in collision with a convertible Vauxhall Astra at roughly 6.30pm last night (Monday), near the Junction 6 sliproad on the A1(M).

Both lanes of the motorway and the sliproad were closed while emergency crews dealt with the accident.

An ambulance service spokesman said: “We were called at 6.30pm dispatching a rapid response vehicle and ambulance to a collision between a car and a motorcycle.

“A woman in her 40s suffered a leg injury and was taken to Lister Hospital where her condition isn’t thought to be life threatening.”
