A 21-YEAR-OLD man was killed after a traffic accident in Welwyn Garden City last night (Tuesday).

The crash happened at just after 8.10pm on the A1000 Chequers just south of the junction with Ascots Lane.

A black and red Honda motorbike left the road and came to rest on the grass verge and the rider died at the scene.

The road was closed for around three and half hours whilst investigations took place at the scene.

The East of England Ambulance Service spokesman Gary Sanderson, who attended the incident said: “On our arrival, the man was in a critical condition and following extensive treatment by land and air ambulance crews, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“Our thoughts are with his family at this tragic time.”

Anyone who was in the area at the time and saw what happened or anyone who saw the vehicle prior to the collision is asked to contact PC Andy Ralph via the Herts Police non-emergency number 101.
