A motorcyclist was airlifted to hospital yesterday after an accident that closed one of Hatfield’s most important roads in the evening rush-hour.

A man riding a blue Lifan motorbike suffered a badly broken arm on Comet Way near the Tesco roundabout in a collision with a grey VW Beetle about 6.10pm and was taken by air ambulance to Stevenage’s Lister Hospital.

Police closed Comet Way until 7.32pm.
