Archant

Fuming Welwyn Garden City residents called the police after being disturbed by a noisy moped in the early hours of the morning.

Families were woken up on Saturday morning to moped noise, described as sounding like a “mosquito”.

In a message to Neighbourhood Watch members, police community support officer Daniel Hill said: “The moped has been described as sounding like a mosquito.

“We would love nothing more than squashing (or rather crushing!) this particular mosquito, but we can only do so with your help.”

The moped was being driven over footpaths and other off-road areas.

Police received reports of the disturbance in Haldens, Panshanger, Hollybush and Woodhall.

PCSO Hill wrote: “We don’t know at the moment whether this is one moped or several.

“If you have any information, particularly a description and registration number, or where they might be being kept, please call 101 and let us know.”
