CASH was stolen from a car in Hatfield after a thief smashed in the driver’s side window.

Between 6pm on Sunday, September 1 and 9.15am on Monday, September 2 a thief smashed the driver’s side window of a black Citroen C4, parked on Orchard Mead.

They stole £25 in cash which had been left visible in the car and then ran off in an unknown direction.

Investigating officer PC Joe Clapham, said: “It is important that valuables and money are not left visible in cars as they could become a target for an opportunistic thief.

“If anyone was in the area at the time of the offence and witnessed it happen or saw anyone acting suspiciously, I would ask that you get in contact as soon as possible.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC Clapham via the non-emergency number 101 quoting crime reference number B2/13/2721.
